Robotics in the 21st century is the key driving technology and is vital for the future advancement of our country. In the year 2019, for every 10,000 employees, there will be 55 robots in use. Moreover, the robotics market in Malaysia is valued at RM 359.14 million in 2020. Currently, there are 21 Malaysian-owned companies that manufacture and provide services for industrial robots, and predominantly small and medium enterprises in Malaysia will require higher technology adoption.

As stated by Khairuddin Rahim, Deputy CEO of MIDA, the application of robotics systems in the Malaysian context will increase product quality and productivity; decrease dependency on low skilled foreign labor, and, most importantly, increase the number of highly skilled jobs for Malaysians. As well as that, the application of robotics systems also increases Malaysia's competitiveness, and this is in line with the national economic policies, including the National Investment Aspirations and Industry FWD (IR4.0).

The presence of robots in the manufacturing sector has immense potential for the growing demand for automation across industries. For Malaysia to be internationally competitive in areas of robotics, existing hotspots must continue to help grow the local ecosystem of innovation, with ready access to mentoring, finance, business, and marketing advice as well as the opportunity to build connections across the value chain. Recently, Sophic Automation has been recognized by MIDA as a system integrator in the robotics ecosystem in Malaysia.
